Land reclamation and shore protection in Th. Hirilandhoo have reached 78% completion.
MTCC is carrying out the project for the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure. The contract was signed on November 10, 2020. Site mobilization began on May 23, 2022, with physical work starting soon after.
Crews now carry out revetment work on site. The $105.9 million project covers 25 hectares of reclamation. It also includes 1,080 meters of revetment and 80 meters of groyne construction.
MTCC said the project will expand land for development. The company added that it will also strengthen coastal resilience and support the island’s future growth.
