President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu pledged new infrastructure and housing solutions for Th. Vilufushi during his visit last night.
He announced that a modern hospital will be built within 18 months. Work on the project began yesterday, with plans to hand it over fully equipped.
The President also revealed that an airport with a 1,800-meter runway will be completed in 30 months. Land reclamation for the airport has already started.
On housing, he promised to finish installing water, electricity, and sewerage systems in the existing units by year’s end. The government will determine rightful owners and build 100 new housing units next year. Families can also choose to build homes on their plots.
Muizzu added that the government will resolve the long-standing housing issues left from the tsunami disaster. He assured that financial compensation will be offered if needed, based on the wishes of the people.
