President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to address coastal erosion in F. Dharanboodhoo and allocate funds for the project in next year’s state budget.
He made the commitment while meeting island residents during his tour of four atolls. Muizzu described erosion as a serious threat that requires detailed study. He said he would instruct the Construction Ministry to work with the island council to conduct research. The results will determine how the project is included in the 2026 budget.
The President also promised a dedicated police station for Dharanboodhoo within this year. He noted that police services should not operate from rented buildings and stressed that a permanent facility would allow officers to serve residents more effectively.
