President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has vowed to expand V. Keyodhoo with a major land reclamation project.
Speaking to the people of Keyodhoo during his tour of four atolls, the President said the lack of land is holding back the island’s progress. He highlighted that fulfilling the promise of land reclamation is crucial for development.
President Muizzu announced he will propose funding for the project in next year’s budget and plans to add 12 hectares to the island by early 2026.
“We will practically begin the work of adding 12 hectares of land to this island to fulfill that promise by early 2026,” he said. He added that the extra space will open doors for further advancements.
Noting the growth of local tourism, the president assured residents that a dollar ATM will be installed in Keyodhoo before March next year. During the visit, agreements were also signed to construct a new building for the Keyodhoo Health Center and a four-story school building
