Practical work on the new health centre in Vaavu Fulidhoo commenced Friday with a groundbreaking ceremony held as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing atoll tour.
The event was officiated by Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim and attended by Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Managing Director DCP (Retired) Ahmed Saudee, Fulidhoo Council officials, and senior government representatives.
The project, awarded to MTCC in August, involves construction of a 15,650 square-foot facility equipped with modern infrastructure. Valued at MVR 27 million, it is scheduled for completion within 360 days.
Fulidhoo, home to about 521 residents, is expected to benefit significantly from the new centre, which aims to improve healthcare services and reduce the need for patients to travel to other islands for treatment.
