Ahmed Mahloof Parts Ways with MDP in Surprise Exit

Ahmed Mahloof, former Youth Minister and former member of the Maldives Parliament (Majlis), has officially resigned from the opposition Maldives Democratic Party (MDP).

Mahloof officially informed the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) of his decision to leave by sending a resignation letter to party chairperson Fayyaaz Ismail. In the letter, Mahloof expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the party since 2015.

In his resignation letter, Mahloof expressed deep gratitude to former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, thanking him for the progress and development achieved in the country. Mahloof acknowledged his privilege in being part of the administration and expressed sincere appreciation for the opportunity to serve in his administration’s cabinet. He described his experience as both fulfilling and rewarding.

however, he did not specify any reasons for his decision to leave the Party.

Mahloof emtered the political scene with Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP). Before joining MDP in 2018, He also served as a member of the People’s Majlis representing the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) under former President Abdulla Yameen.
