First Lady Sajida Mohamed has stressed that good health is the foundation of education, social development, and a country’s economic prosperity while addressing the Third International Joint Conference for Healthcare Professionals 2026 (IJCHP 2026) at Crossroads Maldives.
Speaking at the conference, held under the theme “Evidence, Empowerment and Education: Leading the Future of Healthcare for Sustainable Impact,” the First Lady said a nation’s true strength is reflected in how well it cares for its people, rather than its economic or technological achievements alone.
She highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence and robotics in healthcare but emphasised that technology can never replace human compassion. Instead, she said, technological advancements should be used as tools to support and improve healthcare services.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening the health sector, the First Lady noted the importance of building a resilient healthcare system capable of addressing the unique geographical and climate-related challenges faced by island nations like the Maldives. She also highlighted ongoing efforts in human resource development and digital transformation.
The First Lady praised the dedication of nurses and women working on the frontlines of healthcare, describing their contributions as vital to strengthening the country’s health system and ensuring inclusive healthcare services.
The conference concluded with organisers presenting a commemorative plaque to the First Lady in recognition of her participation. She expressed hope that the event would inspire new ideas and stronger collaboration to advance healthcare in the Maldives.
