Maldives Customs Service has seized suspected drugs worth an estimated MVR 1.8 million at Velana International Airport.
Customs said the drugs were discovered in the luggage of a passenger who arrived in the Maldives on May 24.
The seized substance was identified as methamphetamine, with a total weight of 941 grams. Authorities estimate the street value of the drugs at around MVR 1.8 million.
The suspect has been handed over to Maldives Police Service for further investigation.
Customs said security measures at the airport have been strengthened amid a recent rise in drug smuggling cases.
