President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has attended a State Banquet in Colombo hosted in his honour by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The President, accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, thanked the Sri Lankan government and people for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the Maldivian delegation.
He described Sri Lanka as a close and trusted neighbour, highlighting the long-standing friendship built through education, healthcare and strong people-to-people ties. He also noted that the visit reflects the enduring bond between the two countries.
The President emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation in areas such as digital transformation, sustainable tourism, renewable energy, education and ocean conservation, while also calling for continued joint efforts to address climate change.
Senior officials from both countries attended the banquet, which forms part of the President’s ongoing State Visit.
