The People’s Majlis has approved the new cabinet of ministers.
The approved cabinet includes
- Moosa Zameer – Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises (76 yes, 1 no)
- Ali Ihsaan – Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology (70 yes, 2 no)
- Iruthisham Adam – Minister of Foreign Affairs (75 yes, 0 no)
- Dr Ismail Shafeeu – Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development (72 yes, 2 no)
- Geela Ali – Minister of Health, Family and Welfare (75 yes, 0 no)
- Mohamed Saeed – Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade (65 yes, 12 no)
- Ahmed Shiyam – Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources (73 yes, 0 no)
- Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed – Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (74 yes, 0 no)
- Mohamed Ameen – Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation (73 yes, 2 no)
- Abdulla Rafiu – Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness (75 yes, 0 no)
- Heena Waleed – Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage (64 yes, 12 no)
- Dr Abdulla Muththalib – Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development (68 yes, 5 no, 1 abstain)
- Ali Shareef – Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy (63 yes, 13 no)
- Hassan Rasheed – Minister of Defence and National Service (76 yes, 0 no)
Most nominees were approved with more than 70 votes.
Minister Zameer and minister Hassan Rasheed received the highest support, with 76 votes each.
Minister Ali Shareef recorded the lowest approval at 64 votes, with 13 members voting against his nomination following criticism over past social media remarks.
Minister Heena Waleed also received 64 votes, while Mohamed Saeed secured 65.
