The government has expanded aviation partnerships to offset flight disruptions caused by the Middle East conflict.

Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen said efforts are focused on reducing reliance on regional transit hubs after hundreds of flight cancellations.

Authorities are preparing to launch Ethiopian Airlines services within weeks, while Belavia is set to begin operations in August alongside Maldivian’s new Australia route.

Flight frequencies with several international airlines were increased, contributing to a rise in weekly arrivals. Measures also include attracting private jet traffic to support the sector.

Officials said the overall impact on tourism remains controlled, although higher global fuel prices continue to push up operating and travel costs.
