Cabinet Reshuffle: 10 Ministers Resign as Reform Agenda Moves Forward

Ten cabinet ministers have submitted their resignations in a move aimed at paving the way for reform measures initiated by President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu to strengthen governance.

The President has accepted the resignations.

The ministers who stepped down include:

  • Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon – Defence
  • Abdulla Khaleel – Foreign Affairs
  • Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim – Health
  • Thoriq Ibrahim – Tourism and Environment
  • Dr. Aishath Shiham – Social and Family Development
  • Adam Naseer Ibrahim – Language, Culture and Heritage
  • Dr. Mariyam Mariya – Agriculture and Animal Welfare
  • Ibrahim Waheed – Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts
  • Adam Shareef Umar – Cities, Local Government and Public Works
  • Dr. Ali Haider Ahmed – Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development

The President acknowledged the ministers’ contributions and expressed sincere gratitude for their service to the nation.

The administration also indicated that changes will extend beyond the cabinet, with adjustments planned for Managing Directors of state-owned companies as part of the broader reform effort.
