Ali Shamoon has been elected President of the Maafushi Council in the local elections.
Shamoon secured over 660 votes, defeating incumbent Hassan Solah, who received 487 votes. In the WDC election, PNC candidate Samseena Mohamed has been elected as chair. She won the seat with 601 votes.
Authorities have said the results reflect strong participation in the island’s elections.
