Council Condemns Remarks

The National Disability Council has condemned remarks made during a political event held on 28 March.

The council has said a senior political figure used derogatory language towards persons with disabilities during the event. It has described the remarks as unacceptable and harmful.

The council has stressed that persons with disabilities are entitled to full rights, dignity and equal protection under the Constitution and international conventions.

It has warned that such rhetoric undermines efforts to build an inclusive society and creates further challenges for persons with disabilities.

The council has urged all individuals, especially those in positions of influence, to avoid discriminatory language and promote respect and inclusion.
