The government has decided to provide a subsidy on fuel sold by State Trading Organization (STO) for fishing vessels.
Starting today, vessels refuelling from the Hulhumalé FSM Terminal and Himmafushi FSM Shed will receive fuel at subsidised rates.
The decision comes as global oil prices rise amid the Middle East conflict, with the government aiming to ease pressure on the fisheries sector.
Officials said the move follows consultations with fishermen and is part of broader efforts to stabilise the economy.
