A fire at a warehouse in Maafannu has displaced 77 people, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The fire broke out at the “Prime Godown” near Izzudheen Magu and was brought under control around 11:00pm.
An evacuation centre was set up at the Social Center, where over 450 people from 15 households were registered. Of those, 77 people from 10 households required temporary shelter.
Most affected individuals have since been relocated, while others received assistance from the Maldives Red Crescent. Several people were also treated for smoke inhalation.
The warehouse, believed to store chemicals, was severely damaged, with nearby vehicles also affected.
