Physical work has begun on a land reclamation project in Th. Veymandoo.
The project will reclaim 27 hectares of land on the island. The work is being carried out by Peninsula Infrastructure Private Limited, a subsidiary of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
Reclamation is being conducted using the dredger Filippo Brunelleschi, which has a capacity of 11,300 cubic metres.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced the start of the project in a post on X.
The project is part of the President’s pledge to reclaim land and allocate residential plots for residents of Veymandoo.
