Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has shipped more than 99 tonnes of cargo to six countries through its sea-to-air cargo service in February.

The shipments, equivalent to 20 TEUs, were transported by airlines including Virgin Atlantic, Etihad Airways, Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways.

Cargo was delivered to Italy, France, Denmark, Spain, Australia and Turkey.

The sea-to-air service  which ships goods by sea before flying them to global destinations launched on 15 May 2024 in partnership with Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). Authorities say efforts are underway to expand the service.
