More than MVR 5 million in Zakat al-Fitr has been collected in the first 15 days of Ramadan, according to Maldives Zakat House.
Total collections have reached MVR 5.48 million so far. The figure is higher than in recent years.
During the same period last year, collections reached MVR 4.46 million.
In 2024, the amount stood at MVR 2.63 million. In 2023, collections were MVR 2.79 million.
Maldives Zakat House began accepting Zakat al-Fitr payments on 22 February.
Payments can be made online through several platforms. These include the Dhiraagu App, Dhiraagu Pay, Ooredoo M-Faisa, Maldives Islamic Bank Mobile App, Bank of Maldives Mobile App, FahiPay, FAST Pay Maldives and Bandeyri Pay.
Zakat can also be paid using cash cards or at local council offices.
