The government has confirmed that essential food items remain widely available at affordable prices across the Maldives as Ramadan reaches its midpoint.
Officials said early bulk procurement and distribution by State Trading Organization (STO) helped keep market prices stable despite rising demand.
STO is maintaining controlled prices for 26 categories of goods, including staple items such as rice, sugar and flour, along with 23 additional essentials introduced to prevent price hikes.
The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade said it is continuing to monitor market prices and work with suppliers to ensure steady availability.
Authorities said the effort aims to strengthen food security and ease the financial burden on households during Ramadan.
