Mohamed Saeed has said the Maldives faces no shortage of oil despite rising global prices linked to unrest in the Middle East.
Speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office, he noted that international oil prices jumped by 25–30% in a single day. He said the government is closely monitoring the situation and taking precautionary measures.
“We don’t have to worry about oil,” Saeed said, adding that supplies of both fuel and LPG remain secure. A new shipment is already en route to the Maldives.
The minister said the government is expanding fuel storage capacity and exploring additional supply routes. He also assured that aviation fuel supplies remain stable.
Saeed added that authorities are working with key agencies, including STO and the Ministry of Finance, to ease any burden on the public as global markets fluctuate.
