Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has completed repair works on a mooring boat used in tug and barge operations, marking a shift toward in-house maintenance.
The repairs were carried out by the Marine Fleet Section of MPL’s Fleet Services Department. Company divers also handled the installation of mooring buoys, a task previously outsourced to private contractors.
MPL said the move reduces operational costs and maximises the skills of its workforce.
With the mooring boat back in service, the Keywall area on the western side of the commercial harbour will reopen for additional operations.
