Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) recorded its highest clearance of chicken eggs and onions on Thursday, as Ramadan imports increase.
A total of 3,658 cases of eggs and 2,165 bags of onions were cleared during the day, along with tomatoes, potatoes and other perishables.
Overall, MPL cleared 3,260 tonnes of cargo across 167 consignments.
To ease Ramadan congestion, MPL has set up a 3,000-square-foot shed at Malé Commercial Harbour to speed up unloading and storage of perishable goods.
