Air India Marks 50 Years of Flights to Maldives

Velana International Airport has celebrated 50 years since Air India first began operations to the Maldives.

The airline, which launched flights to the Maldives on 21 February 1976, received a ceremonial water salute upon arrival on Wednesday. A total of 139 passengers arrived on the anniversary flight.

Passengers were welcomed with traditional sweet treats as part of the celebrations.

Airport operator Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) said the event highlights the strong and longstanding bilateral ties between Air India and the Maldives.
