Land reclamation works in Dhidhoo has reached 70% completion, with 78 hectares of land reclaimed under the ongoing project.
The works are being carried out using LEIV EIRIKSSON, a large trailing suction hopper dredger with a capacity of 46,000 cubic metres, enabling high-volume reclamation at a steady pace.
The project is being implemented by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which commenced reclamation works on 5 January 2026.
Once completed, the reclaimed land is expected to support future infrastructure and development needs in Dhidhoo, easing land constraints and contributing to long-term growth in the northern atolls.
