The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has banned certain batches of Babybio infant milk after tests found a dangerous toxin.
The alert came through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF). Authorities in France have ordered the products off shelves and instructed that existing stocks be destroyed.
The toxin, cereulide, is produced by Bacillus cereus and can cause vomiting, stomach cramps, and abdominal pain.
MFDA has prohibited the import, sale, and use of the affected batches and urged the public to report any information via its hotline on 7603204 or 3034213.
