The government has awarded beach protection projects in Maafaru, Gaafaru, and Filladhoo to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
MTCC will carry out beach protection works in N. Maafaru under a project valued at MVR 63.35 million. The project includes 1,025 meters of rock revetment, 249 meters of geobag revetment, and 290 meters of groynes. The work is scheduled for completion within 390 days.
In K. Gaafaru, MTCC will reclaim 2.61 hectares of land and construct 786 meters of revetment and 136 meters of groynes. The MVR 64.30 million project is set to be completed within 270 days.
Meanwhile, the H. A. Filladhoo beach protection project includes the placement of 23,500 cubic meters of sand, along with 120 meters of groynes and 329 meters of revetment. The project is valued at MVR 24.07 million and will be completed within 300 days.
