Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) says almost half of the land planned for Rasmale’ Site A has now been reclaimed.

MACL announced that 64 hectares of land have been reclaimed at Rasmale’ Site A so far. The company said Site A will have a total reclamation area of 137.5 hectares. Of this, 56 hectares have already been completed, representing about 47 percent of the project.

Under the wider Rasmale’ reclamation project, MACL plans to reclaim a total of 1,009 hectares of land.

Reclamation work at Site A is being carried out using the Cristobal Colón, the world’s largest trailing suction hopper dredger, with a capacity of 46,000 cubic meters.

MACL began reclamation at Rasmale’ Site A on December 1, 2025. The reclaimed land will be used for housing, industrial development, and marina facilities.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has previously said that 15,000 people will be selected for land allocation before the reclamation work is completed.
