Former FAM president Bassam Adeel Jaleel, already jailed, now faces two additional proven charges of money launderng and corruption in the FIFA fund embezzlement case.
Bassam was previously found guilty of embezzling and laundering USD 1.2 million sent by FIFA to support FAM during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prosecutors said the funds were used to buy two penthouses from Ameen Construction.
The court confirmed the two new charges are proven, while further sentencing will be decided later. Former FAM finance head Mohamed Ageel, Hassan Waheed, and Ameen Construction remain charged in the case.
