President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that full access to PayPal services will be available in the Maldives by the end of January.
Speaking at the “Youth Coffee with President” event held last night as part of the National Youth Conference 2025, the President said improving international accessibility for the creative industry is a key priority of his manifesto.
He noted that telecom provider Ooredoo is preparing to introduce PayPal services in the Maldives, following the Maldives Monetary Authority’s decision to grant an Inward Remittance License to Ooredoo Fintech.
President Muizzu also revealed that Bank of Maldives’ digital payment service, “Swipe,” will be opened for testing later this month, adding that more financial opportunities are expected to be introduced in the near future.
