President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Dr. Aishath Rameela as a member of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).
The President presented her appointment letter at a ceremony held at the President’s Office. Rameela then took her oath as an HRCM member.
Parliament approved her nomination on October 29, filling the seat left vacant after Mariyam Muna’s term expired.
Rameela previously served as the first Minister of Agriculture and Livestock under the current administration. She resigned from the cabinet on December 1, 2019, citing health reasons.
