Rasfannu Artificial Beach has reopened to the public following the completion of major renovation works aimed at improving water flow and environmental conditions in the area.
The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure said the beach reopened on Monday morning after being closed for renovation on April 9.
The renovation work was carried out by MTCC. A key component of the project focused on improving water circulation in the Rasfannu lagoon.
According to the ministry, a drainage system was installed on the northern side of the area, while the seawall was reconstructed with culverts to allow water to flow more effectively.
Rasfannu was originally developed and opened in 2016 during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s tenure as Minister of Housing and Infrastructure.
The ministry said the upgrades will provide a more pleasant environment for visitors. It added that the improvements are expected to address concerns previously raised by the public over water pollution in the area.
