Atoll Immigration Offices Issue Over 900 Passports in September

Immigration offices across the atolls issued more than 900 passports in September, marking a major step in making passport services more accessible across the country.

According to the Maldives Immigration, a total of 3,884 passports were issued nationwide last month. Of these, 960 were issued from regional offices, while 2,115 came from Malé, 386 from Hulhumalé, 367 from Hulhumalé Phase II, and 36 from Villimalé.

The Immigration Department processed nearly 3,900 passport applications in total during the month.

Expanding passport and national ID services to the atolls has been one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s key pledges to bring government services closer to people living outside the capital. The President launched the nationwide expansion of these services on November 16 last year.

With the service now available countrywide, the government says the President has fulfilled his pledge to decentralize passport and citizenship services, allowing residents outside the capital to access them more easily.
