The government has handed over two major projects in Shaviyani Atoll to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), the Feydhoo Road Development Project and the Feydhoo Coastal Protection Project.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu attended the signing ceremonies along with cabinet ministers, MPs, council members, and residents. Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdullah Muttalib signed for the government on the Feevah project, while State Minister Hassan Rasheed signed for the Feydhoo project. MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee signed on behalf of the company.
The Feevah project, valued at MVR 116.97 million, will develop 4.89 kilometers of roads. It includes drainage systems, paved roads, parking zones, and road leveling to address flooding and improve transport for the island’s 1,365 residents.
The Feydhoo project, worth MVR 25.09 million, will build a 320-meter revetment and 340 meters of groynes to protect the shoreline from erosion.
Both projects reflect the government’s efforts to enhance island infrastructure and support community resilience.
