President Hails Historic Triple Elimination Milestone

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has hailed the Maldives’ recognition by the World Health Organization (WHO) for becoming the first country to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B.

President  Muizzu marked the historic milestone in a post on ‘X’, celebrating the Maldives’ global health achievement.

He said the nation’s success reflects the hard work and dedication of healthcare professionals, communities, and partners who worked tirelessly to protect mothers and children.

He also expressed pride in the nation’s progress and extended heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in achieving this landmark victory.
