President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stressed the importance of Quranic recitation at the closing of the 37th National Quran Recitation Competition.
He said a 100% Islamic nation must prioritize Quranic recitation. The government will provide opportunities to advance in this field. He encouraged students to participate with diligence and enthusiasm.
The competition started on September 18th and ran from September 19th to 26th at the Salman Mosque. A total of 1,023 participants joined from 119 institutions, including schools, atoll councils, clubs, associations, Quran classes, and universities.
At the closing ceremony at the Islamic Center, the President called on children to take pride in Quranic recitation. He urged the community to unite to spread Quranic knowledge and memorization.
The First Lady, Sajida Mohamed, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, and Cabinet members gave awards, plaques, and certificates. Prizes for winners were increased, making the competition the most prestigious in the Maldives.
