The Maldives has cautioned that the United Nations risks losing global trust if powerful nations continue to evade accountability.
Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel told the UN General Assembly in New York that international laws are applied unevenly, with small nations held to account while larger states act with impunity.
He pointed to Israel’s mass killings in Palestine, accusing the country of ignoring UN resolutions and international court rulings. The UN’s failure to respond, he said, exposes a deep flaw in the global system.
Khaleel warned that selective justice undermines the foundations of international law and urged urgent reforms to restore equality and ensure accountability for all nations.
