Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim has called climate change adaptation a global challenge, stressing that vulnerable nations like the Maldives cannot face it alone.
Speaking at a high-level meeting on adaptation ahead of COP30, Thoriq said international cooperation must ensure fairness and equality. “No one should be left behind,” he noted.
He warned that rising sea levels and extreme weather pose the greatest risks to small island states, urging urgent global action to prevent irreversible damage.
The meeting focused on accelerating adaptation measures and mobilizing financial support. Thoriq underlined that investment in resilience is not optional but critical for survival.
COP30 will be held from November 10 to 21 next year.
