President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized that the people of the Maldives will have their voices heard and their opinions considered at every stage of decision-making.
In a message shared on his X account, the President underlined his administration’s efforts to increase representation of women and youth in all matters of governance. He stressed that citizen input will guide decision-making “at every level.”
He also expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine, citing their lack of agency in making decisions about their own future.
International Democracy Day, observed annually on September 15, is a day to highlight democratic values worldwide. The observance reminds governments and citizens that democracy depends on participation, protection of human rights, and the rule of law.
