President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that the Cabinet has approved bulk imports of essential fruits, vegetables, and other commonly used food items to boost food security in the Maldives.
In a social media post, President Muizzu said the State Trading Organization (STO) will import and sell in the market the ten most commonly imported fruits and vegetables, along with onions, eggs, and potatoes.
He emphasized that, in addition to staple foods such as rice, sugar, and flour, these measures will ensure a stable supply of essential items.
The President’s Office confirmed that the move aligns with the government’s manifesto pledge to strengthen food security across the country.
