Ghost of Yotei just dropped an epic new video, giving fans an exclusive look at the new world
On September 8, the developers of Ghost of Yotei shared an exclusive video that provides fans with a closer look at the rich and immersive settings players can expect in the highly anticipated upcoming release.
The video contains no dialogue or gameplay action, instead focusing on atmospheric shots of wild landscapes, historical landmarks, and traditional Japanese homes, offering a cinematic glimpse into 17th-century Japan through the game’s cutscene-level visuals.
Ghost of Yotei is set in 1603 near Mount Yotei in Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido), centuries after Ghost of Tsushima. It follows Atsu, a mercenary who becomes an onryo, a vengeful spirit from Japanese folklore. Sixteen years after her family was killed and she was left for dead, she sets out to destroy the “Yotei Six,” led by the rogue samurai Lord Saito. The game explores themes of supernatural revenge, loss, and justice.
Ghost of Yotei was officially unveiled during PlayStation’s State of Play on September 24, 2024, and later earned a nomination for Most Anticipated Game at The Game Awards that November. And the game is set to launch on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025.
