Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is diving into the vault to revive long-lost maps from Black Ops 2

Treyarch, the studio behind the Black Ops franchise, has confirmed that Call of Duty Black Ops 7 will include remastered maps from Black Ops 2  and not the usual suspects. This time, they’re resurrecting long-lost classics that haven’t been touched in over a decade. It’s a major shake-up for a series known for recycling the same few maps, and fans of the 2012 favorite are in for a serious nostalgia hit. If you’ve been waiting for something fresh that still hits like the old days, this is it.

This is exciting news for longtime Call of Duty fans, especially those who’ve followed the Black Ops saga from the beginning. Given that Black Ops 7 is a direct sequel to Black Ops 2, the return of classic maps and characters isn’t unexpected. The game was initially teased in June, with a full global reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live last month. Set a decade after Black Ops 2, Black Ops 7 will feature fan-favorites like Raul Menendez and David Mason in a fresh, mind-bending campaign.

Call of Duty fans won’t have to wait much longer the open beta for Black Ops 7 is just weeks away. While it’s unlikely to feature the newly remastered Black Ops 2 maps, players will get hands-on with the game’s overhauled movement system, fresh weapons, new maps, and more. Early access kicks off on October 2 for those who’ve pre-ordered, with the open beta launching for all players on October 5.
