President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated participants who completed the first batch of the government’s National Service Programme and joined the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
In a post on social media, the President described the programme as an important initiative to develop confident, self-reliant and patriotic young people committed to serving the nation.
A total of 344 participants graduated from the first batch, with 137 successfully completing the 72nd MNDF Basic Training Course. The graduates came from 70 islands across 20 atolls.
The President also congratulated participants who received distinctions during the programme and wished success to all those continuing their service to the country.
The third batch of the programme is currently underway at the MNDF Composite Training Centre in Lhaviyani Atoll, with 352 participants enrolled. According to the government, 1,785 youth applied for the programme.
