PNC Denies Split Claims After Internal Party Dispute

The ruling People’s National Congress (People’s National Congress) has pushed back against reports of internal division following disagreements over a proposal linked to President Mohamed Muizzu.

Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla rejected claims circulating on social media, calling them “completely false” and insisting that no such proposal had been submitted for rejection.

He said the party continues to function on democratic principles and warned against attempts to create internal friction, adding that its leadership remains intact and “steadfast.”

The comments come after reports that a proposal to delegate authority over party congress affairs was not approved during a recent party Senate meeting. Instead, a special committee was formed to oversee congress matters, including figures such as parliamentary group leader Ibrahim Falah and other senior officials.

While government-aligned figures deny any internal rift, opposition voices have suggested growing tensions within the ruling party.
