President Mohamed Muizzu has left for an unofficial visit to Singapore, the President’s Office confirmed today, but declined to share details on the purpose of the trip.
This marks Muizzu’s fifth visit to Singapore and his fourth unofficial one. His most recent unofficial trip to the country ended on August 5, when he returned to Malé after traveling with his spouse Sajidha Mohamed.
Muizzu also made an official visit to Singapore in 2019, meeting senior officials including Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and signing agreements to strengthen bilateral ties.
In a separate development, former President Mohamed Waheed is also on an unofficial overseas visit, with no details released.
The President’s Office says such trips are typically for family or health reasons.
