MTCC has announced the completion of the first segment of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project on the northern side of Male’ City, as work continues on the remaining phases of the project.
According to the company, phases two, three and four of the first stage are currently underway, with 400 metres of sheet piling completed so far. Construction of the road cap and the fourth tunnel segment also began last week.
In addition to road development works, MTCC said efforts are ongoing to establish a drainage system aimed at resolving persistent flooding issues in the area. Sewerage works are expected to be completed by the end of this week, while repairs to drains and main water pipelines are also in progress.
The MVR 144 million project involves the development of a 1,088-metre stretch from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the North Harbour area. The first phase covers an 838-metre section extending from the Local Market to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal.
The project forms part of the government’s broader efforts to improve road conditions and infrastructure in Male’ City.
