Minister Mohamed Saeed has said Around 2,500 containers have been scheduled to arrive in Malé next week.
The containers are currently in Sri Lanka and will be brought in to ease supply delays. Disruptions in the Middle East and operational challenges at Maldives Ports Limited had earlier caused a backlog at Malé Commercial Harbour.
Officials said pending containers previously exceeded 4,200, but the number is expected to drop to around 1,700 with the new arrivals.
Authorities also noted that congestion at Colombo port is easing, with operations gradually returning to normal.
