The government has eased the visa extension process for tourists under the Maldives 2.0 initiative
Authorities said only a passport-sized photograph is now required, replacing multiple documents previously needed. The process, which took five days, will now be completed within 48 hours.
Tourists can apply through the Imuga portal, with additional documents required only in special cases such as passport renewal or missing records.
Officials said the move aims to improve travel convenience and respond to disruptions affecting global travel. Immigration said security checks will continue to be strictly enforced.
