Gaadhiffushi Reclamation Completed

MACL carried out the dredging using the Filippo Brunelleschi, reclaiming around 396,000 cubic metres of sand. The project was originally planned with a 10-day timeline but was completed ahead of schedule.

The development forms part of a USD 7.2 million project pledged by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to address land shortages on the island. It also includes coastal protection measures such as a breakwater, revetment and groyne to protect the reclaimed area.

Authorities said the project will support housing and economic expansion, providing a long-term solution to land constraints faced by residents.
