The government is seeking alternative supply routes to keep construction projects on track amid disruptions in the Middle East.
Infrastructure Minister Dr Abdulla Muththalib said difficulties in importing materials are affecting ongoing works in several atolls.
He noted that key supplies such as large stones are usually sourced from the UAE and the wider Middle East, creating challenges under current conditions. Authorities are now turning to alternative suppliers, including India, to keep projects moving.
The minister said efforts are ongoing to minimise delays by securing new supply routes and accelerating work where possible. Equipment and machinery are also being prepared to support project implementation.
